Context

As part of the Master’s program Physics: Concepts and Applications at the École normale supérieure de Lyon and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, a thematic school titled “The Astrophysics of the James Webb Space Telescope” will be held from January 12 to 16, 2026, at ENS de Lyon. This event, combining theory and observation, will offer Master’s level students an in-depth immersion into the latest scientific advances made possible by the James Webb Space Telescope. Several researchers will give talks presenting the scientific context, recent discoveries, and future prospects opened by this revolutionary instrument.

Subject to availability, free registration will also be open to M2 students from other programs as well as PhD candidates. Applications must include a one-page motivation letter, to be sent to guillaume.laibe@ens-lyon.fr, by December 12th.
